Happy National Volunteer Week! Today, we’re highlighting an amazing Momentum volunteer, Chelsie (pictured above).
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and why volunteering is important to you?
As someone who is passionate about mental health and dedicated to making a difference in the field, volunteering is important to me because I believe in contributing to causes that impact entire communities. It’s one thing to say you care, but giving your time and effort is a way to show it. Even in small ways, I want to help where I can.
What drew you specifically to volunteering at Momentum for Health?
What drew me to Momentum was its mission and focus on behavioral health services. Since this is the field I hope to build a career in, I felt it was the perfect place to learn, observe, and give back while being part of something meaningful.
How has volunteering at Momentum helped you develop new skills or strengthen existing ones?
Volunteering at Momentum has helped me strengthen my organizational and administrative skills, especially while supporting the HR department with various tasks. This role has also helped build my confidence and professionalism. Being surrounded by a welcoming, encouraging team has made me feel supported in my path.
Is there a specific experience or interaction that has stayed with you throughout your time volunteering?
The consistent encouragement from the HR department every time I come in each week has stuck with me. Their positivity and support make me feel like I’m part of something special, and that kind of environment has left a lasting impact.
Why do you think giving back is important?
Giving back is important because it allows opportunities for individuals to be part of something greater than ourselves. It’s a way of showing care and using our time to support causes that truly affect those who seek support. I think we all have something to offer, and when we give even a little, it can create a ripple effect.
