Why Volunteer at Momentum
As a volunteer, you are a key part of Momentum’s support network. Volunteers boost our impact and enrich our clients’ lives. You also make our job easier by coming alongside staff with a helping hand and listening ear.
Many of our volunteers have been clients at Momentum for Health. Their personal experience shows our current clients what recovery looks like, and how they can achieve it, too.
Volunteers make the Momentum experience truly transformative for clients. We value you and your skills, time, and talent. Volunteers make a difference for our clients in so many ways. Whether teaching skills for independent living, sharing your artistic or interpersonal talents, helping out in the office, or just being a listening ear, every volunteer on the Momentum team increases the chances that clients will achieve their goals for recovery.
What to Expect
Volunteers at Momentum can wear many different hats. We’ll do our best to place you in a role that fits your skills and interests. This might include:
- Assisting clients with practicing life skills
- Answering phones
- Offering support for someone having a rough day
- Checking people into our programs
- Cleaning the office
- Cooking dinner for a group
- Compiling information packets
- Helping with group counseling sessions
- Leading group meditation, exercise, or art classes
Momentum accepts volunteers at our locations throughout Santa Clara County. Please speak with our staff to learn more about specific openings.
We encourage you to work with our staff to create a schedule that works for both you and our team. We ask that you commit to working with us for at least 90 days.
Who Is Eligible?
Volunteers need to be at least 18 years old and able to pass a background check. You don’t need any special experience, training, or educational background to volunteer, not even a high school diploma.
